Description
Creative’s Early Maths is a complete hands-on mathematics kit that
gives children aged 5 and up the physical tools to make maths real.
Thirty-two multicolour linking cubes combine with 22 numeral tiles,
6 maths symbol tiles, 8 activity cards, a dice, and a full Activity Book
to cover the entire early maths curriculum from counting and
pattern-making through to addition, subtraction, comparing,
sequencing, and early geometry.
Children work with the cubes to count, sort, build patterns, and represent
addition and subtraction physically before recording it with numeral
and symbol tiles. The activity cards introduce structured challenges;
the Early Geometry cards extend the work into shape and spatial reasoning.
The dice adds variety and keeps sessions fresh across multiple plays.
Parents choose this kit because it replaces a shelf of separate maths activities
with one coherent set that grows with a child’s understanding.
Teachers value it because the concrete-to-symbolic progression handling
cubes first, recording with tiles second reflects how children actually learn
mathematical concepts.
HOW CHILDREN LEARN
- A child snaps three red cubes and two blue cubes into a tower,
counts all five, then places the numeral tile ‘5’ beside the symbol
tiles ‘3’ ‘+’ ‘2’ ‘=’ 5 that physical act of building and then recording
is how abstract addition becomes a concrete, understood concept. - Pattern making with cubes red, blue, red, blue, and then ‘what
comes next?’ trains the brain to notice, extend, and predict sequences,
a foundational skill in both maths and language. - Sorting cubes by colour into groups, then comparing which group has
more by counting, builds the classification and comparison skills that
underpin early data handling and statistics. - The Early Geometry activity cards introduce shape and spatial ideas
through the cubes themselves building a specific pattern on a grid
card connects spatial reasoning to physical manipulation in a way
that paper exercises cannot. - Using the dice to generate a random number, then building that
number of cubes and writing the numeral tile, adds an element of
chance that sustains engagement across many repetitions without
the activity feeling like drill.
SKILLS DEVELOPED
- Number Sense & Counting
- Addition & Subtraction
- Pattern Making & Classification
- Sequencing & Comparing
- Early Geometry & Spatial Sense
- Fine Motor Skills & Hand-Eye Coordination
- Problem Solving & Estimation
WHO IS IT FOR
- Children aged 5 to 8 who are at the stage where maths concepts
need to be made physical and concrete before they can be understood
in written form. - Parents looking for a single kit that covers the full early maths
curriculum counting, patterns, addition, subtraction, geometry
rather than a different product for each concept. - Primary school teachers who need a hands-on maths manipulative
set for individual or small-group numeracy sessions at Key Stage 1
or equivalent. - Homeschooling parents covering early maths systematically
number sense, operations, geometry, and pattern through
structured physical activity. - Learning support educators who use concrete manipulatives and
physical symbol tiles to bridge abstract mathematical concepts in
structured learning environments. - Gift-givers looking for a substantial, curriculum-aligned maths kit
for a 5–8-year-old that goes well beyond matching games or flash cards.
