Description
Creative’s My First Charades brings the classic pantomime game to
children through a colourful board game format that makes vocabulary
building feel like a party. With 132 category cards across Animals, People,
Actions, and Things, children encounter a wide range of everyday words
in every session — all without speaking a single one aloud.
Players roll the dice, move their pawn along the board, and land on one
of four coloured symbols. They draw the top card from the matching pile,
silently read the word, and act it out in front of the group. The player who
guesses correctly takes the next turn, keeping everyone alert and involved
throughout.
Parents choose My First Charades because it gets children off screens and
physically active while genuinely building language skills. Teachers use it
because the four vocabulary categories map directly onto early language
learning and because few classroom activities produce this much laughter
alongside this much learning.
HOW CHILDREN LEARN
- A child rolls the dice, moves along the board, and lands on a symbol
Animals, People, Actions, or Things creating immediate anticipation
as they draw from the matching card pile and read their word silently. - Standing up and acting out a word without speaking pushes children
to think about what makes that word unique building word-concept
connections more durably than a flashcard ever could. - The guessing players scan their vocabulary, call out possibilities, and
learn from every correct and incorrect guess a form of active recall
that cements new words quickly. - Four categories mean children encounter a wide range of vocabulary
in a single session: animal names, describing people, physical actions,
and everyday objects covering language breadth naturally. - Because the player who guesses correctly goes next, every child stays
alert and engaged even when it is not their turn building sustained
attention and listening across the whole group.
