Smart Learning to Classify is a 16-set, three-piece match up activity
for children aged 4 and up. Each set contains three illustrated picture
cards that share a common category link children must find all three
cards that belong together, sorting 48 objects across groups like
fruits, insects, animals, clothing and flowers.
Children pick a lead card, find its two matching group members and
place all three together then explain the link aloud.
This single mechanic builds category thinking, expressive language
and world knowledge simultaneously, making it far more than
a simple sorting exercise.
Developed in association with Early Learning Consultants, this set
is often used in structured play and therapy-friendly learning settings.
The included activity guide gives teachers and parents structured
ways to extend the activity into group games and guided discussions.
HOW CHILDREN LEARN
A child picks up the butterfly card and searches for two more
cards that share the same group dragonfly and ladybird learning
that all three are insects through active discovery.
Sorting 48 objects across 16 categories builds the mental habit
of looking for shared properties a foundational skill for science,
maths and language learning.
Children discuss why objects belong together 'they're all fruits',
'they're all animals' — developing expressive language and
reasoning alongside category knowledge.
The activity guide extends play into structured group games,
helping teachers use the set for whole-class sorting circles or
paired classification activities.
Repeated play across all 16 groups clothing, flowers, wild animals,
insects, fruits and more steadily widens a child's world
