Description
Creative’s Discover Numbers is a set of 36 jumbo double-sided flash
cards that covers numbers 0 to 25 in a format built for both self-study
and group play. One face of each card shows the numeral and the number
name written in full; the other shows the corresponding count of objects.
At 140×185 mm, the cards are large enough for young children to handle
confidently and for a small group to see clearly at once.
Children use the cards across five distinct activities: counting the objects
on the picture side, recognising and naming the numeral, understanding
the concept of zero, sequencing all 36 cards in order, and comparing
quantities using same, more, less, greater than, and less than concepts.
The Activity Guide extends these into structured group games as well as
individual practice.
Parents choose this set because the jumbo format and double-sided design
mean one purchase covers multiple numeracy concepts from a single resource.
Teachers value it for group sessions because the large card size makes it easy
to use with several children at once without additional preparation.
HOW CHILDREN LEARN
- A child holds the card showing ‘20 / twenty’ and flips it to count 20 yellow
chicks arranged in a grid — that numeral-to-quantity connection, verified
by their own counting, builds robust number sense rather than rote recognition. - Flipping the card from number face to object face and back again trains
children to hold both representations in mind simultaneously the numeral,
the word, and the counted quantity all connected through one card. - Introducing zero (0) as a concept — a number that means ‘none’ prepares
children for a mathematical idea that many early numeracy sets skip
entirely but that is foundational for understanding arithmetic. - Laying all 36 cards in sequence from 0 to 25 builds number line
understanding and the concept that each subsequent number is one
more than the last — a critical pre-arithmetic insight. - In group study, one child holds the object side up while another names
the number — that social quiz format adds turn-taking, listening, and
spoken number fluency to the individual counting work.

WHO IS IT FOR
- Children aged 3 to 7 who are learning to count, recognise
numerals, understand zero, and compare quantities from 0 to 25. - Parents looking for a single versatile flash card set that covers multiple
numeracy concepts and works for both solo and paired play. - Nursery and reception teachers who need large, durable number
cards for group sessions, circle time, or individual numeracy activities. - Homeschooling parents covering early maths foundations
counting, number names, zero, sequencing, and greater than/less
than — through structured card work. - Learning support educators who use large flash cards for counting,
recognition, and sequencing activities in structured play and
therapy-friendly learning settings. - Gift-givers looking for a versatile, durable numeracy tool that a
child can use independently from age 3 and that supports
multiple skills across the 3–7 age range.
