Smart Problem Solving is a set of 30 large colourfully illustrated picture
cards for children aged 5 and up, covering 10 real-life everyday problem
scenarios. Each scenario begins with a Problem card such as two children
in conflict and children discuss, suggest or select cards showing the most
appropriate Solution and the resulting outcome. Scenarios include
interpersonal conflict, nature, community situations and more.

The problem-solution-result format is designed to build genuine thinking,
not just matching. Children must understand why something is a problem,
reason about possible responses and anticipate consequences developing the
decision-making habits that underpin emotional intelligence, conflict resolution
and academic reasoning.

Developed in association with Early Learning Consultants, this set is
often used in structured play and therapy-friendly learning settings.
Parents and teachers choose it because it addresses social-emotional
development directly building cooperative spirit, confidence and positive
attitude through discussion-rich, picture-led play.

HOW CHILDREN LEARN

  • A child studies the problem card showing two boys fighting, then
    discusses: 'Why are they fighting? What could happen next? What
    would be a better choice?' practising social reasoning before
    selecting the solution card.
  • Selecting the solution card boys talking calmly on a bench and the
    result card boys hugging shows the full consequence chain:
    problem → action → outcome, building decision-making thinking.
  • Working through all 10 sets exposes children to a range of everyday
    social situations conflict, cooperation, nature, community building
    a broad repertoire of problem-solving responses and social vocabulary.
  • Discussing each scenario in a group teaches children to listen to
    different perspectives, justify their choices and negotiate core
